Jean Baptiste

Hadih, si suzi Jean Baptiste (they/them).

My traditional name is Kihew Mahihkan Atayohkan Iskwew, which means Eagle Wolf Spirit Woman. I am a dade’ats’ten (Two-Spirit) member of the Wet’suwet’en Nation in the Laksilyu (Small Frog) Clan. I am a trans, non-binary, Indigiqueer person living and working on the unceded traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation in the community colonially known as Prince George.

With more than a decade of experience, I bring a varied background working across healthcare, social services, and education in strategic initiatives, project management, organizational change, quality improvement, communications, and equity-focused practice. My approach is deeply rooted in Indigenous ways of being and knowing, being relationally focused and restorative in nature to best serve communities in an equitable and sustainable way.

Outside of work, you can find me writing books, beading, or traipsing through the woods gathering traditional medicines and foods.
